 Ingredients 


  • 2 cup all-purpose flour (Maida) 
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (Dahi) 
  • Water as needed
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp cardamom (Elaichi) 
  • Saffron (Zafran) 

 Instructions 


  • Using your hands, thoroughly combine the flour, baking powder, ghee, yogurt, and salt in a bowl, add water if necessary. Make sure to thoroughly combine the ingredients without creating a sticky dough. Put a cloth over it and give it ten to fifteen minutes to rest.
  • Place the sugar and water in a pan, heat it to a steady boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer. Simmer for 5–6 minutes after adding the cardamom powder and saffron, then put aside.
  • Roll out the dough evenly in a Colombian pan and cut into equal parts. Heat cooking oil on low flame and fry the Balushahi until golden brown on both sides.
  • Place the fried Balushahi in sugar syrup for 2 minutes. Garnish with pistachios and serve.
